Ted's Butcherblock is getting in the holiday spirit this Thursday with their popular monthly beer dinner. The event features five wintry beers selected by brew guru Scott Shor, paired with a five-course menu from Chef Michael Ruggiero. Pairings include Cisco Moor Porter from Nantucket paired with homemade chili; French-brewed Dupont Cidre Bouche Brut with cheese in phyllo topped with sweet potato; Duchess de Bourgogne, from Belgium, with duck spring rolls and sweet & sour sauce; John Barleycorn barley wine, from California, with mini beef wellingtons; and German beer Eku 28 with eggnog bread pudding. Homebrewers put their concoctions to the test in a noon brewing contest at the happening neighborhood joint on Savannah Highway that's as famous for its adult sandbox as its wings. A beer tasting follows the competition, featuring more than 30 brews. Coast, Charleston Brewing, Palmetto, T-Bonz, Rogue, Allagash, Great Divide, Cottonwood, Terrapin, and Victory bring their best blends. Progressive Dinner

An annual tradition that takes visitors by horse-drawn carriage to several historic inns and restaurants for different dinner courses. This year's dinner begins at the Kings Courtyard Inn for hors d'oeuvres followed by dinner at Circa 1886 and dessert and coffee at the John Rutledge House Inn. Highlights of the meal include petite beef Wellington with chive cream, wild mushroom and Gouda quiche, Navan Cognac-infused eggnog and cinnamon-spiced apple cider, a candied garlic-glazed salmon with goat cheese potato mousseline, broccolini and citrus butter, and a chocolate yule log.
