Back when Jean-Yves Thibaudet was an up-and-coming French pianist, he performed at Spoleto, and in 2002, he was awarded the Premio Pegasus from the Spoleto Festival for his artistic achievements and his longstanding involvement with the festival. These days he’s recognized as one of the best pianists in the world, and he’s taking time away from his globe-trotting to stop by Charleston. It’s part of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra’s Merrill Lynch Masterworks Series, conducted by Maestro David Stahl. The concert features the CSO performing Jennifer Higdon’s Blue Cathedral, Bartok’s Concerto for Orchestra, and Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F, featuring a solo from Thibaudet. —Erica Jackson
