Cookbook authors Matt and Ted Lee have the honor of cooking for the James Beard Awards ceremony on May 2 in New York City. Of course, they don’t want to flub this one, which will be attended by some of the brightest stars in the world of food, so they’ll be practicing on local palates at a rehearsal dinner. Matt Lee and Duvall Event’s Executive Chef Matt Greene will present variations on a salad course. “We thought it’d be fun to crowd-source, so to speak, the dish we’ll be serving as the first course of the dinner for 500 guests of the James Beard Cookbook, Broadcast, and Journalism Awards,” says Ted Lee. “So for the local crowd at Duvall, we’ll be offering several different riffs on our blue crab salad in hopes of coming to some consensus on which is most delicious and exciting.” The best part of this deal is that it’s completely free.
