Re: “Review team wanted Thomas out, Riley says he was never told

Since the Super Store fire happened, I have been puzzled by one giant pink elephant in the room that seemingly no one has talked about.
What is it?
All nine of the Fire Fighters who died, had part time jobs. It is because they all just loved to work and wanted to spend even more time away from their families? I think not.
I think the elected officials of this city and county are so scared to raise taxes the small amount needed to pay these public servants on par with first responders in other states, that our firemen and policemen could probably qualify for welfare benefits without those additional jobs.
No matter what the final ruling is about the fire and how it happened, we all need to take a good hard look at how tired those poor men may have been from having to work two jobs.
Do we, the residents of Charleston City and County have a tiny bit of blood on our hands, too?
I would be willing to pay a few cents more of tax, if I knew that if my home was ever on fire, that well rested firemen would be fully alert when battling a blaze.

Re: “

The VERY VERY Best brisket in town is at the Barbeque Joint in North Charleston in the old village on Montague.
The place is clean, the service is friendly, you cannot leave there without being stuffed to the gills and the brisket is the best this side of Dallas.
Brisket day is Thursday, I suggest you call ahead and reserve a pound or 2.
Better by far and much MUCH cheaper than Jim'n Nicks.
