The more you know

In honor of Black History month and in conjunction with local historians, the Daniel Island Library hosts a lecture series this week. Three historians and teachers will present lectures on different aspects of slavery in the United States from the American Revolution through the Civil War, including talks on key figures in the Underground Railroad, such as Harriet Tubman, and African Americans who worked with the Union to the end slavery. The lecture series will also include first person narratives of runaway slaves.
