Holiday Festival of Lights Nov. 11-Jan. 1 Fri. & Sat.: 5:30-11 p.m. Sun.-Thurs.: 5:30-10 p.m. James Island County Park 871 Riverland Dr. 795-4FUN (4386) FESTIVAL — Twinkle, twinkle, little bulbs Charleston County Parks and Recreation present the 16th annual Holiday Festival of Lights, a tour of light displays that started out with just 18 shipped-in metal creations and has grown to include over 600 displays, all of them handcrafted on-site by James Island County Park staff, along a two-mile driving route. Chief Light Show Supervisor Rich Raab designs displays ranging from traditional Christmas scenes inspired by greeting cards and coloring books to twinkling Charleston-centric sights like Rainbow Row and the Cooper River Bridge. Runners and walkers get first crack at seeing the display every year during the non-competitive Fun Run and Walk; although driving through the scenes is wonderful, the opportunity to stroll along the path at a running or walking pace is not to be missed, allowing for up-close scrutiny of the care and detail that goes into the making of the sculptures. Heads up: there will be no on-site registration for the Run/Walk -- call 795-4FUN or visit to pre-register. OPENS FRIDAY
