Re: “Coming and St. Philip streets could become two-way

I guess I'm late to this 'discussion'...

I work in Elliottborough, I've lived there to. I've never heard of Line Street being converted at any neighborhood meeting. Alot of talk regarding Coming St...but no vote on this plan. I've searched every email from the Neighborhood Association/Pres. Ryan Gushkloff, and no info on T & T presenting this plan. I will say Ryan is sure pushing people to be vocal in supporting this plan.
It seems to me...a dis-service to the residents of the neighborhood, Ryan should be supporting the petition against(which BTW I signed), AND fighting for a BETTER plan. What a joke to ignore the folks on Line & St. Philip who can now expect the same problems Coming already has. Any plan that pushes more cars thru a residential area is STUPID!

Thanks to the dude that came by with the petition, showed me the plan and answered my questions, I hope it gets some action! I e-mailed all the council members, T & T, and the Mayor, and did not even get a courtesy response...

This "plan" is a Riley baby all the way. Poorly thought out, very little(if any) public input, probably expensive, unsafe(especially for bikes), and unpopular...but you're gonna get it anyway. You know why? The Council members need to keep the Mayor happy not the folks that voted for 'em. Voters lose their leverage until re-election time. I hope Cannonborough/Elliottborough hustles the current board out next election time and gets some people that give a sh*t about 'quality of life' for residents.

Re: “Summey funds campaign with out-of-town money

Been there...done that...and it was completely laughable.
Thanks for pointing out the obvious.
I am well aware that most of the companies mentioned have operations in the city. I also own property/business venture in North C.

Between incompetent Department administrators and ill-informed & unconcerned council would seem a payoff, I mean "donation", is the way to go.
You don't waste your time to tell a thief he's a thief and ask him to correct his ways. Just like you wouldn't go to your councilman and continue to ask for assistance when he has already told you he's not going to help 'cause "(your) just a business & you don't have a community buy-in".

If you can't vote in a district...make a "donation" and maybe you'll get a favor when you need something. North Charleston is the epitome of the "old boy network" whether you like it or not. 'Favors' are given everyday be the mayor or his cohorts and I can assure you it comes at a cost.

Re: “Summey funds campaign with out-of-town money

It is notable that many of Summey's contributors have businesses in North Chuck, or at least business interests. That should raise a red flag and confirms what I have been hearing for years...If you want something done in N. Charleston you have to grease some palms. I need a couple things done, I guess I just need to make a "contribution" to the mayor. I find it especially suspect that attorneys are "donating" funds, I have meet with one of those named regarding a potential lawsuit against the City of N. Charleston. Maybe one day, one of our papers will do an article(s) on all the crooked and underhanded things that go on in N. Chuck...
