You better werk

Holy City Vintage Market and PBR present CHS Werk Week, an affordable three-day celebration of vintage fashion and vintage music. Werk Week, created by the CP’s Music Editor, Kelly Rae Smith, will work to benefit and raise money for We Are Family (which supports local LGBTQI youth) and Girls Rock Charleston (a nonprofit group that uses music and more to build up girls and transgender youth in the Charleston area). Werk Week starts at Royal American on Friday with a vintage night market from 5-9 p.m. An after-party, with a $5 cover, begins at 9 p.m. with the SOUL Preservation Society of Charleston DJs spinning soul, funk, and R&B on vinyl 45s. On Sat. March 4 from 8 a.m. ‘til 4 p.m., We Are Family hosts a pop-up thrift shop at Enough Pie. Saturday night at 7-9 p.m., the flagship event is the fashion show at the Southern Gallery featuring looks by six local vintage shops ($12/adv., $15/door) — arrive on time for a swag bag. Werk Week wraps up on Sun. March 5 at The Park Cafe, where guests can enjoy a boozy brunch market from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. featuring an outdoor bar and PBR beer-mosas.
