While national Grandparents Day was officially Sun. Sept. 9, the Children's Museum of the Lowcountry (CML) had to reschedule their g-parent celebration due to Hurricane Irma. Now that hurricane season is over and the holidays are upon us, the CML will be hosting grandparents for free this Sun. Dec. 10 from noon to 5 p.m.

"Here at CML, we understand that the brain develops rapidly during the very early years, building the foundation for cognitive and character skills that are necessary for success in life. Through play, grandparents can see their grandchildren's social, communication and problem-solving skills strengthen," said CML's executive director Nichole Myles in a press release.

Grandparents and their grandchildren (and children!) can paint a family portrait in the Art Room; check out WaterWise, an exhibit all about water with boats to race; climb aboard a Lowcountry pirate ship; and drive an antique fire truck.

Regular admission rates apply for all non grandpas and grandmas — $10 for S.C. residents, $12 for non-residents, and free for CML members and children under 12 months. Your admission grants you access in and out of the museum all day.
