Re: “Barsa Tapas Lounge & Bar

Yo amo Barsa! This place is just fantastic and the folks running it make it all come together beautifully. The food is fresh, tasty and authentic for the most part- after all, we're in South Carolina and there are limits. But, having said that, overall it's a great dining and drinking experience with friendly professional servers and a top notch bartender (the evening we were there it was Brittany) who was very pleasant, very quick and attentive to a packed bar. The kitchen put out meticulous, beautifully presented dishes and everything we ate was tops. Gracias Barsa. We will be back! Again and again and again.

Hahahaha! Boy oh! Charlestonians doth protest a bit too loudly. It's tough to see yourselves as you really are, isn't it? Can't wait.

Re: “Johns Island Conservancy says "Enough is enough" in report on Beach Co. development

Let's try to stay on the topic of this article, shall we? Using any kind of taxpayer money to ensure the development of an exclusive community is un-American, plain and simple! Further, the mention that much of that TIF money is earmarked toward schools is a punch in the face to those schools on Johns Island that OBVIOUSLY need serious upgrades- that little Angel Oak Elementary on Chisolm Road is a perfect example. Let's get our priorities straight people; this Beach Co. bulldozing is just another in a long line (the Betsy Kerrison Parkway was one) of unneccessary spending for the sake of a few beneficiaries. While for many, many years I hear the whisper "carpetbaggers" when projects like this come up, the truth is it is native sons who have really ruined the natural beauty of the Charleston lowcountry and sea islands.

Re: “Watch Shovels & Rope absolutely destroy the Late Show

I must agree with Ned Hill's comment re: Dolly Parton. I too saw a glimmer of that incredible talent in Cary Ann's enthusiastic performance. Good job, go get 'em!

Re: “Racial tensions fuel the fiery debate over a North Charleston Montessori program

An interesting article. But it left me with more questions than answers. Further, a full explanation and the history and techniques behind Maria Montessori's method was, sadly, not shared. There is so much more to it then sitting on the floor! What a shame. But, one can Google The Montessori Method and gain an incredible insight into a truly wonderful style of teaching that really began with the youngest of children. Parents who fear their children will NOT receive a "good education" from the Montessori Method compared to a "traditional education" are really missing out. Although I have to agree with the concerns of the parent re: further education as Montessori ends at 6th grade.
The fundamental groundwork is amazing.

As to the transcontinental railroad issue- I just don't think we got the full report on that.

Re: “Burwell's drops like a hot rock on the dining scene

In a town where the battle rages for the food dollars of a relatively small populace and the occasional hordes of visitors, it's no wonder a classy and innovative place like Burwell's would cause a ruckus. A lot of people who've held the restaurant scene -shall we say, hostage, for many years- have sunk a ton of $$$ into new sites; professional jealousy has always been a hallmark of the culinary world in the Holy City.

The review and many of the comments smack of that jealousy. Cheers!
