Re: “Virginia's on King

Our slider appetizers were very good. Our entrees were slightly overpriced and hugely underseasoned. The wait service was annoyingly mediocre. We're not food snobs, but geez, this place has ZERO personality.

Re: “Charleston activists call for repeal of Heritage Act, removal of Calhoun monument

Lest we forget that this demand is being made by NAN's James Johnson, who back in April, stated that the Middle Eastern ("Arab") shop keepers should "go back to their own country" (http://bit.ly/2w7R58k) ??? . Now NAN has made a comment to the mayor that they would "bring Charlottesville to Charleston"? (http://bit.ly/2wbFfcu)
Wow, like that isn't an incendiary threat! So much for the peaceful approach. Have we gotten to the point where we bypass civil discourse & jump straight to violence? Shame on us if that is so. I guess the next call to action will be to take down everything from ALL of the 12 presidents who owned slaves: We can topple the Washington Monument, bulldoze Monticello, send the wrecking ball to the Jefferson Memorial too, etc. In fact, let's just get rid of any & all monuments, memorials, and statuary across the entire USA for good measure, because I guarantee that someone somewhere finds it offensive. Let's sanitize our history so that it looks like nothing bad ever happened here that we learned from & corrected/attempted to rise above. Is everything here perfect? Nope. Do we need discourse and healing? Yes. What we don't need is NAN threatening to bring violence a la Charlottesville if they don't get what they want or people taking the law into their own hands and defacing property that isn't theirs. How does that help anything? Any group that comes prepared to do violence or threatens violence/property destruction if they don't get their way (to include KKK, neo Nazi, Antifa, etc etc) should be considered domestic terrorists.

Re: “How John Lewis gets his Texas Hot Guts sausages to snap

ncspartan, why you so (h)angry? Geez, someone new trying something new that isnt a corporate/chain restaurant? Everyone deserves a chance. If it's not for you, then it's not for you. Good thing 'it takes all kinds'; I found the brisket absolutely delightful.

Re: “Mayor Riley, Chief Mullen want to close new bars, restaurants at midnight

Every comment I have read about this online has been in opposition to this, so how the heck is it moving forward? It just seems wrong that what they are proposing puts limits on any future business's earning potential by shortening their operating hours. How does Riley have the privilege to decide how many restaurants is 'enough' (in his opinion), when the BAR is reviewing and approving all of these new businesses? Why & How have we not voted out this man who has made a career of watering down the flavor of Charleston for years and cares more about the "fanny pack" tourists & wealthy downtown residential owners? geez.... Maybe we just roll up the sidewalks at 9:00 pm from now on--seems like that's what Riley wants.
