We have lived in Charleston for 25 years and have come to expect very high quality from our local restaurants. After reading several 5 star reviews of the Glass Onion we were very excited about trying the food. We went on a Saturday night around 5:30. There were about 4 tables with customers, and we were seated immediatly. I ordered sweet tea to start. The tea was watered down and tasted horrible. At this point I knew we were in trouble, if a self proclamied southern soul food establishment can't get classic southern sweet tea right how can the rest be good. My catfish was tasty however the portions were way too small for the money. In the end everything was just so, so. nothing I couldn't have cooked at home better. It all ended with dessert. I thought surely they would "wow" us with this. We ordered Coconut creme pie. This was the most pathetic, limp, broken up joke of a dessert I have ever seen, and tasted just as bad. I would have been embarrassed to serve it, and feel basically like someone stole my hard earned money.
