Soccer season’s over, but Blackbaud Stadium has another event up its sleeve before going into hibernation. The stadium’s annual Oktoberfest celebration transforms the place into a Bavarian-style beer hall complete with live oompah music, authentic German dancers, German beers, and delicious Oktoberfest food options. If you get there early, you’ll walk away with more than just a full gut — the first 1,000 festival attendees receive a free commemorative beer stein. Other activities include the Oktoberfest Corporate Challenge, with local teams competing in tug-o-war, barrel races, three-legged races, and bratwurst eating competitions. Children are ensured a bit of fun as well with mini-soccer games on the stadium field, jump castle, and more. The festival benefits a local charity with portions going to Debi’s Kids and the Salvation Army Angel Tree. Oktoberfesters are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. —Marina Fleming
