Give 'em what they want

The Charleston Jazz Orchestra will be performing its final regular show of season seven this week, with the band’s Musical Director, Charlton Singleton, leading the big band in performing fan favorites reaching as far back as the group itself. “This will be a big band jazz concert which is truly curated by our audience. We surveyed our loyal fans and asked them to select their favorite songs from the CJO’s past concerts — going back as far as the first full season in 2009. The Nov. 21 concert will feature many of these greatest hits as chosen by CJO fans,” says Mary Beth Natarajan, the CJO’s newly hired executive director. Fans can expect to hear an audible timeline of hit songs like “Countin’ on Basie” (2009), “Swing! Swing! Swing!” (2010), “The Music of Miles Davis” (2011), “Symphonic Swing” (2012),” Porgy & Bess Reimagined” (2013), and “Buena Vista” (2014).
