Attention, stand-up hopefuls: proceed full farce ahead. All you Aziz Ansari-wannabees still have a chance to snag a spot in the Charleston Comedy Festival’s Stand-Up Competition. The winner gets $1,000, not to mention bragging rights, while runners-up still get a chance to perform in front of what will most likely be a sold-out crowd. But if you can’t even manage to get a laugh out of a drugged-up dental patient, you can watch the competitors perform their best five-minute set at Theatre 99 and vote for your favorites in the preliminaries. Winners of the early rounds will move on to the big show in January, where townies and out-of-townies alike will vie for the title currently held by Timmy Sherrill from Wilmington, N.C. Who knows when you’ll see these funny people again — maybe on Funny or Die or Comedy Central. —Jansen Cumbie
