Re: “Alluette's Café

After reading the great reviews for Alluette's, we were looking forward to a wonderful meal when we stopped in for dinner on a Saturday afternoon. Only only one other table was occupied, but the service was slow. The food was was a disappointment --- small, uninspired servings at a fairly steep price. The items displayed in the glass-fronted refrigerator sure didn't look organic. We left hungry, and later we ended up at Bon Banh Mi, where we had a terrific sandwich.

I don't think we'll be back. I can't believe this is the place about which we heard such good things.

Re: “The Agenda: Sticky ethics, Foodie Twitter chat, WTMA finds morning host

I caught WTMA talk show host Tara Servatius' show this morning when she interviewed the Chairman of the Charleston County Democratic party. The subject of the interview was last night's debate. Servatius didn't let Democratic Chair Hricik complete one sentence --- she kept interrupting his statements by shouting "That's wrong" and "That's not true". And she didn't explain what was "wrong" or "not true".

When Hricik mentioned Mitt Romney's offshore tax holdings, Servatius repeatedly screeched "What about Debbie Wasserman? What about Debbie Wasserman?" When Hricik gently tried to steer the conversation back to the debate, Servatius continued to rail about Debbie Wasserman, who is not running for President.

Servatius is really good at cutting her interviewees off when they are making valid points. She's not a good interviewer; she is good at changing the subject and ruining the interview. I doubt intelligent folks with opposing views will submit to the indignity of being interviewed by her.

Re: “Crosstown drainage fix: Phase 1 of 4 nearing completion

Instead of wasting our time, money and resources on questionable projects like the 526 extension, Mayor Riley should fix the damned downtown flooding problem. Late Tuesday afternoon it took me over an hour and a half to get off the peninsula. Before I ventured out I spent a ridiculous amount of time online, checking news and weather websites for information on flooded areas. And guess what --- I nearly ended up in a submerged car. I was lucky. Lots of commuters weren't so lucky.

Re: “The savory sandwich of Vietnam storms the streets of Charleston

I've tried 'em all and Bon Banh Mi wins the Banh Mi crown.

Re: “Why are there so many spoilers in the Democratic Party?

Pat Labbe is not without blame for this ugly mess. He was provided proof of Dobbs' duplicity and chose to ignore it for months. Labbe liked the attention he received from his involvement in this train wreck. He liked it so much he was willing to overlook the obvious --- that Dobbs is unfit to run for office in SC, or anywhere.

And then there's the nagging question of who created the awful anti-Burton website......
