Chai’s Pink Party brings sexy back

In the Pink

Chai’s Lounge was bursting with pink on Friday night in support of breast cancer awareness month. The spacious patio was dedicated to all things bubble-gum-colored, including beads, balloons, and accessories. The cocktail party celebrated the launch of Get Real Charleston’s pin-up-inspired calendar featuring local female models, celebrities, and cancer survivors, like hairstylist Lowry Beall.

DJ Natty Heavy kept the crowd entertained with his remixes. Chai’s sponsored the event with an all-inclusive tapas and cocktail menu for guests for $4, and Bacardi previewed new pink drinks to liven things up.

“There have been tons of events sponsoring breast cancer awareness this month,” Lauren Candies of Get Real Charleston said, “but nothing really stood out as truly representing women. To me, this calendar is the epitome of femininity with a vintage vibe.”

One hundred percent of the proceeds from calendar sales support breast cancer research at the Hollings Cancer Center. The 13 P.Y.T.s featured in the calendar mingled with guests at the event, as both men and women came together to support the cause. The calendar was not only made locally, but was also predominantly created by women in the graphic design and production process. Local businesses, such as Handpicked on King Street, will be selling the Calendar for a Cause for $15 until the end of the year.
