Re: “True tales about healthcare abroad

Waiting times within the UK have been drastically reduced in the past 2 years due to new government mandates (it is a purely political move but it's working). A close friend in the UK was diagnosed last year with non-invasive breast cancer and was in the hospital for a lumpectomy in less than a week - she never had to deal with any insurance companies and arrangements were all handled for her. On the other hand, I am in the USA waiting for doctors and insurance company to get their act together more than 6 weeks after being diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. Because I am a Medicaid patient I have to be re-qualified every month which means if they can't get to me by the end of this month I have to go back to my primary care physician and get a new referral approved with my insurer. What a mess and every day I can feel the lump getting larger.
