Re: “The Capobiancos should stop fighting for custody of Baby Veronica

They cannot give her her birthright mrs capobianco cannot teach her to be a Cherokee woman no one can replace her daddy it's so sick they would try. Hoping the Browns prevail. She will reject the Capobiancos at some point -- they are not and never will be her actual family. What an insane farce. White people take and take and take. Never ends.

Re: “Did the S.C. Supreme Court get it right on Baby Veronica?

The SCOTUS is not infallible. Some are calling this the worst decision since Dred Scott. People do not have all the facts. Brown never knowingly signed Veronica away for adoption. He has been fighting for her since she was an infant. The Capobiancos in their grief of not being parents cut corners and broke the law. Their attorney is doing it again with another Native girl from an OK tribe. This is a business wrapped up in conservative Christian ideology about "saving" poor children of color. It is ripe for exploitation. Even the birth mother was exploited with offers of paying her bills. We need to support birth parents and make sure they are freely choosing adoption and not being manipulated through fear. encouraging them to give away their babies by telling them it is a selfless act ignores the fact that most kids would be better off with bio relatives. Having money makes you a richer parent not a better one.

Re: “Matt Capobianco says Veronica "has been kidnapped," vows to fly to Oklahoma without law enforcement action

This story is important to all Americans. What is happening to the Brown family and the Cherokee Nation is completely unjust, immoral and wrong. If the Capobiancos and their attorney (who should be disbarred) had followed the laws, they would have given this child back before her first birthday. Adoptive parents are warned to prepare for failed adoptions. When a child is loved and wanted by their birth family, that is invariably in his or her best interest. ICWA was passed to protect Native parents, children and communities from these actions. In the early 1970s, more than 70% of all Native kids were living in either adoptive or foster homes, usually with White families. How can any American not see how twisted that is? Children are the future for any nation or family. This is not about providing a home for a child that does not have one - it is about taking children and giving them to wealthier, White families who want them. Children are not puppies from the pound.

Re: “Baby Veronica case begins to recall Elian Gonzalez custody fight

Bio parents change their minds, legitimate adoption agencies and lawyers tell people this. He is her father and has fought to retain her since she was an infant. And this law was written to protect children, families and communities from people like these two misguided souls. I feel for them but they are the ones not acting in this child's best interest.
