Re: “Ohioans have invaded the Lowcountry... and some folks wish they would leave

I was born and raised in Charleston as were generations of my family. A couple of points I would like to make:

1. It's a comical article...have a laugh.

2. All of ya'll from Ohio (and other places) talking about canceling your vacation down here, NOT ALL OF US ARE LIKE THAT. Yea, I definitely think that your style is funny...I'm sure you would think mine is too. Is that really a reason not to come here for vacation? It obviously does not get the reputation as "the friendliest city" for no reason. And if that has begun to waver, maybe it is because the city is becoming more and more made up people who are not originally from Charleston; but I highly doubt that is happening.

3. Guys from Ohio that keep their Ohioan style, don't be so surprised when a girl from Charleston shoots you down. Weather we want to admit it or not, we all know appearance and first impressions go a long way...especially if you are trying to pick someone up at a bar, and Charleston girls, well a lot of us love how our southern gentleman dress.

4. As far as the driving comments... as much as I love us, we Charlestonians can't drive. We don't use blinkers, taillights are always out, we can't drive in the rain, and we sure as hell can't even think about driving in the snow (you know the whole 3 inches we get every couple of years)

5. Charleston is an amazing city. People move here for a reason. We just want to make sure that remains the case for many generations to come. Charleston is a city of culture, and we continue to obtain that because people from everywhere move here. No one is asking that you lose your pride for your state. We are simply asking that you adapt to the Charleston way of life, and don't tell us that our city is so terrible. Because if it was that horrible of a place to reside and/or vacation, and we Charlestonias with our love for croakies and costas, state flag coozies and beer, boats and beaches, fishin and crabbin, polo and Lily, rainbows and boat shoes, and grits and beaufort stew was really that bad then most people would find another place to live. However, most of those things are what most people, native and others, love so much about our magical city.
