Call it a warm-up to Kulture Klash or an anticipated art party in its own right; either way, the fifth installment of Blume is sure to be a good time. According to co-organizer Matthew Bowers, the event brings together local artists and DJs to “promote and push the progressive and underground art and music culture in Charleston.”

The theme of the night is “body,” which you’ll see reflected in a curated set of wood panels painted by 15 local artists (like Nathan Durfee, John Pundt, Timothy Pakron) available for only $25 each. Redux’s Karen Ann Myers and Scott Debus will be painting live on Plexiglas on stage, and design team Manufactur will be doing live screenprinting. In all, 35 artists will have their works on display, several of whom (like Durfee, Matt Foreman) have designed temporary tattoos which will be available for guests. A new as-yet-unnamed, African-inspired dance crew will perform, and DJs Sonar, NeonGolden, JeffyT, CMNDer, Machete, and Rocky Horror will spin throughout the night.

A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Conscious Alliance (a nonprofit focused on feeding the hungry through organized food drives at music and sporting events) and the Charleston Women’s Collective. —Erica Jackson
