Re: “The Poor People's Campaign asks us to join together for change

Sorry, but this is just more victimhood blather. Rev Barber is nothing but a race baiter so whatever he says or does only adds to the divisiveness already there.

You cannot walk the streets of Charleston without seeing the enormity of help wanted signs and with the recent jobs report, this seems to be a national issue. A campaign for $15/hr min wage is illogical from the rip. Calling it a living wage is a bigger joke. Maybe in the hollers of West VA, but here in Charleston its still barely getting by wher in NY you stay homeless. So even the discussion fails under the most cursory of reviews. Dont we have enough people enslaved to the plantation of liberal welfare?

Ill listen to any sane, logical discussion on how to better peoples lives, but Barber, government controlled wage rates or pretty much any idea from the Circular Church wont be a source of those should history hold true. I make a strong income today, but I grew up poor and barely made it out of high school. How? Found what I was pretty good at through the military and worked harder than my peers. The American story that is available to every single citizen today.

Re: “We should be worried about state troopers getting deadlier weapons

Baloney. The only "bad" shootings by police have ended up in their prosecution and conviction. The public today feels at ease with ignoring instruction given by officers during an encounter, which leads to the fear of the officers. As a white male, when I'm pulled over I turn on an inside light, roll down my window and have both hands resting on the steering wheel so they are easily viewed. Yes sir/mam is my only response. Why? They deserve it. Today's environment is openly hostile to police and I feel bad that I've done something that may have brought them fear or concern. They have families. This article is baloney and contradictory. If the rifles reduce their fear, then why isn't that a good thing? Isn't that what you said needed to be addressed? Moron.

Re: “Why didn't any white officials attend the Nehemiah Action?

Maybe they don't attend because the context of the meetings is biased against the white politician going in. Having attended a couple of the meetings as this group was forming, I can state this is indeed the pretext, as well as an associated far left political leaning. Unity has never been the objective, much like this article. I would recommend the author head back to Ohio and possibly find someone who might find her fu@*able....

Re: “Charleston City Council set to discuss temporary apartment moratorium on James Island

The woman holding the sign would be funny if she weren't such a pretentious ass. As a JI resident I too hate the traffic on Folly, especially trying to get to the beach. But to state that the housing going up is because of greed is just moronic. It is first the right of the landowner to pursue his or her best interest with the land. The housing complexes going up also provide jobs and commerce to local businesses. And lastly, the complexes provide some modicum of affordable housing in opposition to the crazy prices of single family homes on the island. While I don't like the traffic and would prefer more single family homes than apartments, I don't bemoan someone making a legal living.

Re: “The Agenda: Graham skeptical of Obamacare repeal; Pols settle on 12-cent gas tax bump; Tebow boosting Fireflies

Ron Liberte, I think Drake is pointing out that the students who chose their school because of the predominance of a like race, shouldn't be complaining about someone who chose his club for the same reason, assuming that's why he chose it...
