Re: “Vikki Matsis and the Ohm Radio crew launch a commercial-free station

As a native South Carolinian now living in Charlotte, I'm happy to see that this is happening in the Holy City. You guys are great news!

Re: “What I learned on my summer vacation

Reading the two comments above, I have to wonder if the writers have been out of the state anytime in the past, oh, 30 years. If so, were they paying attention to anything other than what they wanted to see? I'm a white guy originally from S.C., and I got out as fast as I could after college. And although the state has progressed since those days -- lurching from a 1930s attitude in the 1970s, to today's 1980s attitudes (except for gays and blacks, of course) here in the 2010s -- I'd still haul my liberal butt out of that back-assward throwback of a state just as quickly if I were young again and facing the same choices. I don't get to read Mr. Moredock's columns as often as I'd like, but the fact that he doesn't walk around wearing Civil War era blinders like most of the state's other whites automatically makes him better than 90% of South Carolina's pundits.

Re: “The conservative hero that could have been, might now never be

I'm writing this as someone who has been away from the Charleston City Paper for awhile but is checking back in via the web. The paper's quality is terrific, and it's a great read, BUT . . . Who in hell is this Jack Hunter clown? I see that he's a rightwing radio jock so I assume that was his entry point to the paper, but for God's sake, the guy can't write decent prose to save his life. You may have satisfied some conservatives in the Charleston area by bringing Hunter on board, but you've also lowered your writing standards, and that should be a more important issue for you.
