BIG and Local Expo

When: Wed., Feb. 8 2012
Kermit the Frog was right: “It’s not easy being green.” But, thankfully, it’s getting easier, and for Charlestonians, the Carolina Green Fair is largely to thank. A committee passionate about growing green communities, Carolina Green Fair has been hosting events and advocating environmental sustainability since their first fair in 2008. Join them at Charleston’s BIG & Local Expo as they showcase what’s best in green and local. From sampling local products and services to participating in panel discussions about sustainable business, a wide array of workshops and activities await you. Feast on local ingredients prepared by green restaurants as you hear from inspirational speakers, including Christine Von Kolnitz Cooley of MUSC and Beezer Molton, owner of Half-Moon Outfitters. Special guest Mayor Joseph P. Riley Jr. will be there, hopefully having arrived on foot, maybe by bike. Join him and other guests as Charleston celebrates the Lowcountry and discovers tips on “being green” that even Kermit never knew.
