This is unspeakably tragic. But the blame lies squarely on Sametta Heyward. It is not the state's responsibility to provide childcare for working mothers. Interestingly, the author works in a comment about abortion, and I can't help but respond. Mr. Moredock points out what he sees are several instances of irony, but he fails to see the irony in his own thinking. He disapproves of the killing of Heyward's one-year-old, but, according to his own logic, it would have been legally and morally acceptable to murder said child a year ago, simply because this precious little girl was living inside the womb. Was she not as completely human at, say, 20 weeks gestation, as she was that awful day she died in her mother's car?
