Best Way to Be at One With Nature

Caw Caw Interpretive Center

Staff Pick

Caw Caw provides a perfect break from the bustle of city life. Located on a stretch of land on Highway 17 in Ravenel, less than 20 miles from the peninsula, Caw Caw boasts 6.3 miles of peaceful hiking paths, more than 100 acres of 18th and 19th century rice fields, a classroom, and a tricked-out wetlab. Elevated boardwalks lead strollers through the lush wetlands that waterfowl, songbirds, otters, deer, kites, and bald eagles call home. Experts are on hand to tell you where to look to spot the wildlife and how to avoid the barn-sized banana spiders that build their webs across the trails.
