The bartenders at the newly opened Next Door (two doors down from sister restaurant Red Drum) put a lot of effort into making their specialty cocktails. Servers usually encourage diners to be patient as they wait for their fancier drinks, and the zesty, fruity Ginger Slam gin cocktail is definitely worth the wait. Bar manager Andy Bates designed the recipe, which starts with muddled fresh ginger root and pear and includes Plymouth Gin, Stirrings Apple Liqueur, St. Elizabeth Allspice Dram, fresh-squeezed lemon juice, and a splash of simple syrup. They shake it well and serve it on the rocks. It's a spicy start and finish to a happy hour session or alongside anything on an ever-changing seasonal menu.
