Best Unmasking

The Southern Avenger

At some point you have to give up the dream. You have to look at yourself in the mirror and say, "I will not win an Oscar," or "I will never play in the Super Bowl," or "I will never know what's it's like to stare into Scarlett Johansson's vacant eyes and sing the Flight of the Conchords' 'It's Business Time' before embarking on two minutes of unimaginable pleasure." And in the case of The Southern Avenger, well, that dream of being a professional wrestler simply wasn't going to happen. So Jack Hunter did the sensible thing and took off his Confederate flag mask. And we must say — and trust us, we're not saying this because Hunter's a City Paper columnist — ditching the mask has made Jack just a little more respectable ... well, as respectable as a Lincoln-hating, Ron Paul-loving, rock 'n' roll living, right wing radio host can be.
