Best Skincare Column

Staff Pick

The local publishing world welcomed its newest member last fall in the form of Minx, a small newspaper for women that seemed to be largely funded by sex shops. Although Minx's debut publication was littered with typos and questionable layout choices, we were immensely entertained by a column written by Gypsy Spirit, one of Minx's founding publishers. Entitled "To Swallow or Not to Swallow," the column was accompanied by two pictures of women eating oysters. The author gets right into it with the opening line, "Men seem to love it when a woman swallows his 'love fluid,'" then goes on to talk about her favorite use for it. Rather than waste it by swallowing it (in her mouth or even her "love tunnel"), she collects it and rubs it all over her face to improve the quality of her skin. "I scooped this fabulous stuff and spread it on my face, he thought it was very weird and refused to kiss me," Spirit writes. "I actually go wash it off. I was cool because most of it had already dried up and done what I needed it to do for my skin anyway." Thanks for sharing, Gypsy. It almost makes us City Paper folk seem classy.
