Best Place To Worship A Plate

Pacha Mama’s

Staff Pick

In Incan mythology, Pacha Mama is a fertility goddess revered by the indigenous people of the Andes, but in Goose Creek, Tropical by Pacha Mama is the place to get a great plate of Colombian or Puerto Rican food. Newbies should start with a mofongo, the Puerto Rican specialty where mashed plantains are stuffed (I suggest the garlic shrimp or rey chicharron) and served over a small salad. Also exemplary are the handmade arepas, where house-milled corn is formed into patties and packed with your choice of filling. Tostones (fried plantains), maduros (sweet plantains), and even Colombian drinks, like tamarind juice, round out this mamacita’s authentic offerings. —Vanessa Wolf
