Best New Hope For Local Cyclists

Katie Zimmerman, Charleston Moves

Staff Pick

If there’s one group that is unified behind a single issue as strongly as the cycling community, we sure haven’t noticed. Local bike and pedestrian activists have made their voices heard time after time in recent years, mobilizing whenever an issue presents itself and making sure local elected officials know where they stand. Charleston Moves has focused resources into bike advocacy for years, but the organization is getting some new blood in 2017 as Katie Zimmerman straps on her helmet as its new executive director. We’re hoping to see more of the same support for cyclists on our roadways, but also advocacy for non-car transportation generally. Good luck, Katie. —Sam Spence
