Best Mash-Up

Heirloom Collection and The-Commons

Staff Pick

Heirloom started as a bookshop that featured an elaborate collection of vintage and specialty cookbooks on Lower King. After a few years and many big parties and events, Heirloom moved around the corner to 54 ½ Broad St. and became the Heirloom Collection. You’ll still find plenty of cookbooks but they’ve changed their focus a bit, with lots of cute kitchen tools sprinkled in to tempt the cooks wandering through the shop. Recently, they made room for Erin Connelly’s The-Commons, a collection of handcrafted, artisan items curated from across the country that includes items like wooden bowls, ceramic mugs, copper salt-and-pepper shakers, and cheese slates. It’s an enticing combination of function and beauty, particularly if you’re looking to host a Kinfolk-style dinner party at your house.
