Best Local Comedian that Nashville Stole From Us

Dusty Slay

Staff Pick

Oh, Nashville. Why must you take our artists away? First singer Rachel Kate Gillon left us last March, and Dusty Slay followed soon after. Slay, who won the Charleston Comedy Festival Stand Up Competition twice in a row, has performed at several Charleston Comedy Festivals, and has hosted his own local showcases weekly and monthly, was one of the most visible members of the Holy City comedy community, and as such has been missed heartily. But as he told CP contributor Henry Snyder back in August, he made the move purely to further his career, and it’s worked. He put out a comedy album, Makin’ That Fudge, last summer, and he has been making his mark at Nashville comedy clubs as well as places farther afield. And — like they all do — he does come back to visit now and then.
