Love and Pinball Bill

Staff Pick

State Rep. Stephen Goldfinch was hoping to get the legislative ball rolling in 2016 with a bill to do away with a few archaic state laws. In addition to making it legal for minors to play pinball and make it lawful for public dance halls to operate on Sundays, Goldfinch also hoped to remove that state’s ban on “fornication” between unmarried men and women. While no longer enforced, the offense carried with it a possible fine of $500 and one year in jail. Luckily, times have changed, free love reigns, and some legislators think it’s time that the state’s laws reflect that. —Dustin Waters
