The waters off of Capers and Bull islands

Whether you kayak, take a ferry, or cruise along the waterway on your own boat, the trip up past Isle of Palms and Dewees Island to undeveloped Capers and Bull islands is well worth taking — if not for the dolphin-watching, shell collecting, birding, and wildlife, definitely for the fishing. In the surf, along the saltwater creeks and marshes, or slightly off-shore, there are plenty of fish (and sharks) to lure. Local anglers swear by the spottail, trout, flounder, hammerheads, and snapper. Bull Island (the "gem of Cape Romain") boasts 16 miles of footpaths and a famous stretch of tree and driftwood-scattered beach along the east side called "Boneyard Beach." The smaller Capers Island, located just south of Cape Romain, is a pristine barrier island with plenty of deer, loggerheads, foxes, and marine animals. The fish start running well in the spring, so get the tackle ready.
