Best Effort to Cash in on Obamania

The Post and Courier's Charleston porches coin

Barack Obama, or his grinning, big-eared mug, has inadvertently sold tons of newspapers and magazines since first launching his presidential campaign. For its inaugural edition, The Post and Courier offered a comprehensive look at the historic event, capturing poignant Lowcountry perspectives that made for a memento well-worth the 50-cent cover price. It was not, however, worth the $2 the paper was charging for a copy and a commemorative coin that included Obama's likeness on one side and an image of a Charleston porch, which Obama referenced in his victory speech in November, on the other. Look for these coins on future episodes of Clean House.
