Re: “Racial imbalance in discipline at Summerville High

Contemporary black culture-poor, urban single mothers with a handful of kids from different fathers. Now since I'm only 21 years old no children of my own and an Haitian American I could say that this statement is in away what our African American culture is coming too even though I wouldn't say that statements fall under the majority of the black women. Since I'm not from that town and don't really know the specifics of the children's suspension I can't say that their wasn't any wrong doing there, but I understand the generalization that many of the youth are being coddled and not disciplined, growing up with strict parents I know the importance it played in my life especially when I see the disrespect I black students are having with their teachers and surprising white youths with their parents. I've recently gotten hooked on the Southern Avenger through youtube and his wonderful views on Ron Paul as well as his social commentary. This recent article struck me close to home because I see the deterioration in our society not just through music but even how we treat one another. Bill Cosby's interview on Meet the Press promoting his book "Come On People" goes into depth at how we're loosing our edge as Americans. My parents sacrificed their lives back home coming to the US in the early 80's and new that they had to work to get all they wanted and provided for my families. I think there is too much charity in this country without an incentive for people to support themselves. We have a growing welfare state trickling down to our ideals that hard work isn't appreciated anymore. I know I went into a couple different tangents but I just had to let all that out. Basically we need to break this contemporary black culture of group think and remember our individuality
