Re: “The immigration reform bill's unspoken ills

Here are the links I neglected to attach for that book and bib, Art Of...,

The History and Conquest of Mexico.…

The Conquest of Mexico..

Thanks for the flattery, Artrogue. I'm just a literate troll.

Re: “The immigration reform bill's unspoken ills

Art Of- bless your heart for your ideals. They're brave, open and wonderful, and I hope you never, ever, have an experience to change them. Hold fast, and don't listen to us curmudgeonly assholes in our tinfoil hats. But God help you if you try to take away my (unregistered) pearl-handled revolver.

Here, Artrogue, to take it further: lets say that I was a small business owner that does some sort of construction-y, renovation type work. Honestly? I'm not checking your background. I just need the work done. I'm looking for consistency, proficiency and pride. I'm not asking for anything that I won't happily do myself (me paying for help means I get less), but there's just no way I'd finish any sort of deadline.

From my own experience, if you're working for someone/thing/whatever other than yourself you'll have those qualities. Oh, and I'll pay extra to keep you happy. You're helping me with my dream, and I'm going to help you with yours.

If you want me to quit, make me E-verify. If I neglect to do so, make me pay a hefty fine. Don't just threaten me with jail time- follow through. I hate paying taxes, so you can assume how I feel about a fine.

As a likely result, I'll hire less. Maybe pay less. But my accountant will make more. Who honestly knows? In the meantime, at the foil hat-bleeding heart-tea parties, when they start that whole immigration sermon, I'm going to slip out for a cigarette.

And Fish is correct. Please enjoy these hastily Googled sources:
1. History Chanel, with pictures and videos:
2. some random thing I skimmed:…
3. This is a decent annotated bibliography- you can use it as a jumping point if you'd like to learn more.
4. The History and Conquest of Mexico- this e-book was published in 1843 and gives pretty good detail on the conquest. You can just skip ahead to page 68. He's got a dated/Imperialist viewpoint- but its interesting to compare his 1840's view to our current one.

Re: “I'm sick of whiny third-party candidates

Re: " AND they DO in fact vote with emotions far more than men and they admit they vote emotionally vs. rationally."

You seem very emotional, and I'd like some of your rationality to back this up.

I'd really like to see your sources. Do you have any? I'd prefer three sources, properly cited, dating from this century. Or studies or research dating before the 1960's. I'd settle for one current source. Just one. I have a lot of confidence in you, and I know you've researched our voting patterns extensively. You seem to have a knack for understanding the feminine mystique, and I'd love to hear more about your understanding on and of women.

Full disclosure: I'm mostly conservative (minus my support for the whole retroactive abortion thing), and I appreciate the division between the hetero sexes- but daaaaaaaang. I fear you're taking the whole "bro's up, ho's down" thing too far.

Re: “I'm sick of whiny third-party candidates

Oh Ned. Were you the fruit of my womb, I would whole-heartily support retroactive abortion.

I'd like to think that women aren't letting what dangles or doesn't dictate their political choices. Are you supporting your candidates because they are men? Watching your men-sports because they're played by men? Pro-BRO and dudes only for congress? I hope not.
I know I've only got lurker status here- but I'd like to think that you've developed your particular brand of right wing, ahem, zaniness because you believe in your convictions on those issues. Not because the choice is a righty and has a penis.

Re: “Sanford, Colbert Busch vie for the senior vote

I neglected to Google, and do a word search before posting-

But certainly there is a provision in the Voting Rights Act of '65 for our Aged?
(I forget things so easily now).
