The French really know what’s worth celebrating. And thankfully, Chef Nico Romo at Fish wants to share some of France’s culture with Charleston. Every year, on the third Thursday of November, the newest bottles of Beaujolais Nouveau are uncorked and people toast the new red wine, which is what will happen this Thursday at Fish. “The release of Beaujolais Nouveau is one of France’s most celebrated winemaking traditions — it’s been accompanied with lively parties and fanfare since the 19th century, when Beaujolais winemakers sent the first bottles of the new vintage down the Saône river to celebrate the successful harvest,” explains Lauren Park, publicist for Patrick Properties. Wine sippers will be met by French music from guitarist Tom Crowley and enjoy $3 glasses of Beaujolais Nouveu and $6 glasses of the finer Beajolais Crus, available throughout the weekend or as long as they last. The restaurant will also serve up French street food, including boudin and merguez sausages, pommes frites, and French waffles, or gaufres Lyonnaise.
