With all the hustle and bustle of tourist season, not to mention Spoleto, we’re going to need more and more chances for a peaceful escape — and nothing provides that like a solid yoga work-out. That’s the idea behind Masie Barefoot-Judson’s new yoga studio, which is focusing on giving students a personalized experience. “I was sick of going to big classes where 50 or more people were jammed into a room, and the instructor gave little individual attention,” she says. “It’s a shame people don’t always want to know the person next to them. We want to change that.” Barefoot Yoga Studio is celebrating its grand opening to start that process of bringing people together. Guests will be able to check out a local art display and enjoy hors d’oeuvres, wine, and specialty drinks from Park Circle’s new Orange Spot Coffeehouse (co-owned by City Paper employee Laura Cannon). “I think the reception is going to be really great for people to see the studio and meet the teachers, as well as bring together the Park Circle community,” Barefoot-Judson says. “We’re here to build a community.”
