We can’t really tell you what to expect at this year’s BarCampCHS. We can give you hints, like there might be a session titled “Homebrew 101: How to Get Started Making Your Own Beer” and others on software design, social media, or bike repair. But as far as exact details go ... you’ll just have to show up and find out for yourself, since all the classes are determined by attendees the morning of the “un-conference.” That means that I can be a presenter, and you can be a presenter, and anyone else can be a presenter. Or maybe we just want to sit back and learn about Drupal. Since the first BarCamp a year ago, Chrys Rynearson, one of the event’s organizers, says they’ve had a much easier time getting the word out and have attracted sponsors from companies like Collecta, Yahoo!, and Google. “We operate under the philosophy that everyone has expertise to share, which is why we stress the ‘participation not observation’ line so much,” he says. “We’re not your average conference where someone else is selecting who you should hear. You determine that based on all of the incredible talent that will be represented there during the day.” —Susan Cohen
