Re: “Are cruise ships harmless fun or an environmental scourge?

China who is the largest ship builder in the world would be forced to raise their price for exported goods according to a new report for the 111th congress, that details the cost to retrofit mainly foreign ships with new ballast water technology.
Although this would not help cruise ships and the tourist industry it may make America cost competative for some manufacturing providing a greater good for the vast majority of Americans, by providing jobs. Sad that many of these cruise ships do not fly under an American flag and are allowed by international laws to pollute our waters with human bacterial pathogens, virus, and invasive s through ballast, bilge, and human waste, discharges, without even paying US tax on their profits.
