The one thing that makes us feel like Scrooge during the holiday season is the mall. Bah humbug to that crowded hell hole. Thankfully, the shops of Avondale are stepping in and hosting the Holiday Winterfest. From Nicholson Drive to the Coburg Cow Shopping Center, Avondale businesses will be offering up specials and holiday goods. Stop by Al Di La, AlphaGraphics, Avondale Wine & Cheese, Bashful Boutique, Charleston Community Yoga, Classic Coffee, Consigning Women, Gullah Gourmet, Jericho Advisors & Gallery, Lava Salon, Mellow Mushroom, Non`Pa*Reil Photography, Orange Theory Fitness, South State Bank, SpaceCraft Studios, and more. Some restaurants will be offering specials, like $3 Winterfest lattes (made with white chocolate peppermint bark sauce and topped with crushed peppermint) from Classic Coffee, $5 small pizzas from Mellow Mushroom, six combos for $6 a pop from Subway, infused holiday cocktails from Voodoo Tiki Bar & Lounge, and more. Plus, SheSells Candles, Ecolibrio, The Fresh Stitch, The Banner Sisters, Bella & Oliver Soap Co., Kendal Leonard Designs, Huriyali Juices, Holy Smoke Olive Oil, Provider Baby Rags, Ashley’s Herbals, Runaround Sue Vintage, and Artist & Craftsman Supply will have vendor booths all along Avondale. And bring your pets along — Mahmood Fazal Photography will be taking holiday pet photos. Charleston Storytime Theatre will be on site and will read children’s Christmas stories from 1-3 p.m. The area businesses will also be accepting donations for I Heart Hungry Kids, which helps feed children in Charleston.
