A good point about the corporate state. Since it is so, and won't go away, why doesn't it make sense to regulate it? I too, as a liberal, support the old a respectable foil against glibly throwing away all that's within the definition of "the tried and true". True conservatism and true liberalism are opposite sides of the same coin...and they compliment each crucial times, one may dominate over the other, without destroying the other.

I think that this is what Buckley and Galbraith represented.

The problem today, is that the monopoly corporation has so dominated over the local economies of the world, starting with our own country, that the only macro economic choices are to get government to do its job as the "countervailing force". This effort has largely been eroded over the last 30 years. The reality is that BOTH the old conservatism and the old liberalism are highly problematic in our times.
