Re: “Charleston Fashion Week rejects gay-themed film

Charleston - on the surface progressive, modern, open, and tolerant. Just beneath the surface, homophobic, hyper-religious, moralistic, Bible-belt. This is why I'm going back to California. Can't take the hypocrisy any longer. A nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live here.

Re: “The Charleston restaurant scene is in the midst of a renaissance

There's a group on Facebook now dedicated to getting a Trader Joe's here in Charleston. I really miss that store. Much less expensive than Whole Foods, good selection in most kinds of foods, but particularly impressive in its stock of canned and very unusual foods from around the world. The store brand is excellent. I really hope we can somehow convince the company to open out here across the Rockies, but it appears that the chances of that happening are fairly slim.

Re: “McGowan enters Senate race, wants results

Oh, please!! The Marxist Party?? Please go and read the Communist Manifesto and then see if your idea is logical. I do, however, support the public option 100%, mainly because I'm so very tired of the complete monopoly the big insurance companies have on the market. There's no reason for a person who's worked hard for ages to pay $1000 a month on medical insurance. The public option would for the big guys to get competitive again. True free market action.
