America is full of pride — hell, there’s even a song about being proud to be from here. Thanks Lee Greenwood. And Pantheon and Charleston Pride are hosting a pageant for the Fourth of July — with a drag show. Guys and dolls will don their best ’40s-inspired garb from structured tops and glamorous gowns to gangster suits and military attire. Five female and five male participants will perform their songs, vying to be crowned the winners of the drag show. “The winners will serve as Emperor and Empress of Charleston Pride Festival. They’ll ride in the parade and perform at the festival and maybe a couple other places,” says Chase Glenn. The emcee of the night is Ava Clear. After the competition, Pantheon will continue the party with DJ K and drink specials. Party down, America.
