Yes, Patsy is back for more
Feel like you've seen this one on the Piccolo schedule before? You have. The true story about Patsy Cline and her biggest fan, Louise, has been a favorite on the schedule, popping up every few years since its first festival run in 1992. Much like the country star it spotlights, the play hasn't lost its appeal: there was a sell-out crowd at the 2008 premiere. The older folks who eat afternoon Piccolo shows like candy will fill the aisles, but country music lovers and fans of big-voiced singers have also caught on to this show's charm.

You start the mosh pit
I'll crowd surf. The last production used the best assets of the Footlight Theatre to offer an intimate performance. The show is back in the Charleston Music Hall this year and that has its own appeal. The set-up feels more like a concert, putting the focus on the 22 memorable songs. That includes Cline's greatest hits, like "Crazy," "Walking After Midnight," and "She's Got You," along with ones that aren't stuck in your head (yet), like "Three Cigarettes in an Ashtray" and "Honky Tonk Merry Go Round."

Two women, one stage
Cline's iconic style came from the flips, yodels, and pops in her voice (director Sheri Grace Wenger calls them "Patsyisms"). Actress Lindsey Welch provides all of those in spades. As funny lady Louise, Susie Hallatt can hold her own and provides a host of laugh-out-loud moments. We all know how this one ends (a tragic plane crash in 1963), but these women have a blast along the way.
