All-You-Can-Eat Quail Night

When: Wed., Feb. 23, 4-9 p.m. 2011
Price: $20

Last year, the Glass Onion’s signature fried quail was mentioned in Bon Appétit, and to celebrate, the restaurant held an all-you-can-eat quail dinner.

Proprietor Sarah O’Kelley says that she remembers a group of guys in their 20s polishing off six each. “But most people ate three,” she says.

The quail is a plump little bird that gets butterflied, soaked in a buttermilk brine overnight, breaded, and deep-fried before being served up with some buttermilk dressing or honey.

O’Kelley says they brought the night back because her trainer, David Drake at Progressive Fitness, has been after her to do another one. “I realized maybe others would like to have another opportunity to prove their quail-eating prowess. And if a personal trainer endorses this — it’s gotta be a good thing, right?”

We’d say so. The $20 per person cost includes two sides, but there’s no sharing allowed. This is a solo challenge.
