Dr. Carson will examine the extraordinary archaeological discovery of three of Colonial Virginia’s most lavish 17th- and 18th-century structures. Built by a trio of the colony’s wealthiest elites, these buildings were over-the-top, eye-popping, plantation houses, similar to the colonial stature of Drayton Hall. However, none of these men resided in their grandiose mansions. Why? Could there have been an entirely different purpose for these extravagant, brand-new structures? Dr. Carson will put these and other speculations to rest as he solves the mystery of these newly re-discovered palaces.
