Re: “Mo money, mo problems for Lt. Gov. Ken Ard

Look to ARD'S most ARDent supporters along the Grand Strand, who are now under investigation by the FBI and the IRS, if you want a real story. They are the ones who funded him for his run --and likely contributed in '08 when he was running for his last term on County Council as well. They also put one of their own (in fact one that is absolutely at the center of suspicon in that probe) in as his Chief of Staff to mind their investment.

Since at least one writer for your paper supported these very same pillars of the community in their insane war against the bike rallies, I wonder ... are you now willing to dig into their deeper plans for running the entire state? Remember, they supported Barrett, who they gave the largest pay-to-play money to, then switched to Sheheen when Haley won. Ard is there to step in when they collaborate with others to bring down Nikki, no doubt taking Branham with him. And no, I'm not talking about Will Folks being one of their collaborators.

If you really want to report on all this, you need to get up to speed. I think you've ignored the entire Federal investigation up to this point, unless I've missed a mention of it. With the Ard story and that story on a sure collision course, maybe you should read the many posts on this subject in FITSNews and the David Wren stories in The Sun News so that it won't take you by surprise when it all comes down.

Re: “Politics in Myrtle Beach — The Rise and Fall of Mark McBride

Will, it's obvious that you refuse to look realistically at what happened in the recent elections in Myrtle Beach. Though outspent 20 to 1 by pro-Rhodes forces, McBride still lost by only 500 or so votes.

The WHY of that should engage whatever is left of your journalistic Spider-sense, if nothing else. But somehow, I doubt it will.

I'm far less tied to McBride, myself, than you are to your intense distaste for the man. I'm able to take a warts-and-all look at him, and still recognized that he was not the authoritarian Country Club Repub (with the backing of Katon Dawson!) despot in the race -- and that I made a sound decision in backing him and working hard for his election.

Call it a matter of "lesser of two evils" if you will, but at least my judgement in the matter is unencumbered by the need to seize this opportunity to hawk a book whose time has clearly come and gone.
